James H. Elliott

James H. Elliott , my GGrandfather, was born in Jasper County Georgia in 1835. He enlisted as a Private with the Putnam County "Brown Rifles" on April 26, 1861 and served the CSA with Co. B, 3rd Reg Army of Northern Virginia. He was with Lee's Corp at Appomattox in 1865. On March 21, 1898, fellow veteran Albert S Everett said "During the entire time from enlistment until the surrender he (Jim) was as good and gallant soldier as any in the Confederate service. Never on double duty, but always ready, willing, and waiting." James' brother, Edward Franklin Elliott b.1833 also enlisted with the 3rd on April 26, 1861.

James wife's name was Sarah and their children were Edward, William (my Grandfather), Charlie, Inez, and Lena. He died in 1926.
